At KSWP/KAVX, we make a distinction between underwriting and advertising. Underwriting is more a mutually beneficial partnership, whereas advertising allows a sponsor to plant a specifically crafted message at a specific time.
KSWP and KAVX are listener supported radio stations and a part of the LEBF, Inc. (Lufkin Educational Broadcasting Foundation, Incoperated) in Texas. LEBF. Inc. is a 501c3 Corporation or non-profit entity with the purpose of broadcasting, web casting and using other means like Apps.,etc. to spread the Gospel of Christ to the world. KSWP/KAVX follows the guidelines set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to ensure our underwriting messages are clear, concise, and pleasing to the ears. The FCC guidelines dictate all public radio stations must use underwriting language that follows these rules.
- No calls to action: “Call now!”; “Come on down!” or phrases inducing people to buy products.
- No mention of prices: Any quotes of price, discounts or sale information.
- No superlatives or promotional language: “It’s the best,” “Most reliable,” or other qualitative descriptors, either positive or negative.
- Underwriters have the option of placing their message after prerecorded shows and programs on KAVX or during DJ shows on KSWP and/or KAVX!
The Message: In a 10 second or 30 second scale, an underwritten message may include a partner’s:
- Location
- Services
- Business events (grand openings, relocation information, etc.)
- Slogans
- Contact information:
- Websites, phone numbers,
- etc.
However – this list is not exhaustive. KSWP/KAVX aim is to be as flexible and accommodating as possible: we will include almost any message content if it does not violate our FCC regulations.

Reach An Adult Market: KSWP is a Contemporary Christian Music station. KAVX is a mix of Christian teaching, news and talk programming. KAVX also plays Praise and Worship music on the weekends. KSWP attracts an audience of adults 18 to 59 years of age (average 33). KAVX attracts an adult audience that is 25 + years of age (average 43). We deliver for them, and we can deliver for you as well!
With your company’s underwriting support on KSWP/KAVX, you may choose to receive on-air acknowledgments of your company’s underwriting support during a specific program or time range … or you may choose to have a portion of your acknowledgements rotated throughout the week, allowing your acknowledgement to be heard by a number of different audiences.

As a business, you have a choice with your donation for it to be Charitable (your gift not-recognized on the air, you’ll receive an end-of-the-year tax receipt letter) OR non-Charitable (recognition of your donation on the air with underwriting ads, you’ll receive an affidavit letter the month after your underwriting ads air – for ad tax purpose).
